OVERVIEW

Show Details : THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES

To this day, The Beverly Hillbillies is one of CBS' longest running situation comedies. The show which premiered in 1962 follows the life of an Ozarks hillbilly family (the Clampetts) who discover an oil well on their Mississippi land. Established film actor, Buddy Ebsen plays Jed Clampett, the patriarch of an extended family who decides to move his family to a massive mansion in Beverly Hills after depositing his $25 million into a Beverly Hills bank. The other Clampett family members included his mother-in-law “Granny” (Irene Ryan) who spent most of her time trying to find a husband for her granddaughter Elle May (Donna Douglas) and their dim-witted cousin Jethro Bodine (Max Baer Jr.). The bank manager Mr. Drysdale (Raymond Bailey) and his assistant, Miss Hathaway ( Nancy Kulp) spend most of their days and nights trying to anticipate the next wacky move and need by their new millionaire clients, the Clampetts. The clash between the Clampetts rural roots and their new suburban upscale life provides the grist for years of side-splitting comedy.
