THREE’S COMPANY
OVERVIEW
Show Details : THREE’S COMPANY
Three’s Company aired on ABC and remained a top-10 show through its seven-year run from 1977-1984. It follows the lives of three roommates: Janet Wood (Joyce DeWitt), a young, single woman who works as a florist; Chrissy Snow (Suzanne Somers), a bubbly, blonde typist; and Jack Tripper (John Ritter), a student studying to be a chef. At first, their landlords – Stanley (Norman Fell) and Helen Roper (Audra Lindley) – are against the threesome sharing the apartment until Jack tricks them into thinking he’s gay. In 1979, Don Knotts joined the cast as the new landlord Ralph Furley after Fell and Lindley departed to helm their own show, The Ropers. The show was full of many sexual double-entendres which drew the ire of television critics and religious leaders alike but this didn’t stop the show from becoming one of ABC’s top-rated shows on Tuesday nights. Premiered March 15, 1977;
