OVERVIEW
Show Details : BONANZA
One of the longest running and most popular of all television westerns, Bonanza was both an action adventure and a family drama. For fourteen seasons, audiences enthusiastically tuned in to see the High Sierra adventures of the Cartwright clan. Nestled amongst the pines above the shores of California’s Lake Tahoe was the Ponderosa Ranch, the thousand-acre home of Ben Cartwright (Lorne Greene) and his sons, Adam (Pernell Roberts), Hoss (Dan Blocker) and Joseph (Michael Landon), most frequently known in the series as "Little Joe." Each of these strapping young men was born to different deceased mothers, making Ben a widower three times over. Strong character development and humanistic plots plus a revolving cast of interesting guest stars helped to set Bonanza apart from the usual gun-slinging formula television Westerns of its day. Premiered September 12, 1959;
