OVERVIEW
Show Details : GUNSMOKE
Gunsmoke was one of the earliest "adult westerns," centered on the adventures of Marshal Matt Dillon (James Arness) in the frontier town of Dodge City, Kansas around 1873. His deputy Festus Haggen (Ken Curtis) and surly Galen “Doc” Adams (Milburn Stone), the town physician, spent many hours stopping the bad guys in Dodge City and finished the day chugging beers at the Long Branch Saloon, owned and operated by the shapely Kitty Russell (Amanda Blake). The series, which originated as a radio program, ran on television for an unprecedented 20 years (longer than any other prime-time series with continuing characters) with Arness and Stone as the only two members who remained on the show during its full run.
